Sunsets & Playlists

May 29, 2016

There is something so therapeutic about watching the big orange ball drop to the horizon. The hustle of a crazy day suddenly fades into a calm, meditative state. The beauty of the sky reminds you of all the things to be thankful for. I created the “Songs At Sunset” playlist to make sure I always have the appropriate sunset watching soundscape. I would hate for an intense party song to accidentally play. It would really take away from the serene painting in front of my eyes.

Two consecutive sunset photos taken with my iPhone on the bayside of Key Largo. No filter needed!

Thomas Rhett’s “The Day You Stop Looking Back” and “Die A Happy Man” were made for watching sunsets. Barrett Baber’s soulful cover of “Die A Happy Man” is so good that I have both versions included in this playlist.

Lorelei’s, known for its great waterfront setup, is definitely a great spot for watching sunsets.

A sunset scene that always comes to mind is a time we were at Lorelei’s in Islamorada. The sunset was bright and golden. As I took it all in, the live band started to play an acoustic cover of Sting’s “Fields of Gold.” It was as though God had choreographed His live painting that evening.

Although I have been blessed with watching many sunsets on the beach, my dream is to one day be able to watch every night from home. That would mean purchasing some prime real estate. Wherever you might live, I wish you many beautiful sunsets.
